Boosie Says Rod Wave Fan Cried at Airport and Begged Him to End the Beef

A Rod Wave fan approached Boosie crying at an airport and begged him to leave the singer alone, according to the Baton Rouge rapper, who now says their ongoing beef was never personal. During an October 26 appearance on “The Breakfast Club” alongside Webbie, Boosie opened up about the emotional encounter and explained why his disagreement with Rod Wave has always been about handling business.

“I was in the airport, man, and a girl walked up to me crying,” Boosie stated.

He explained that the fan was genuinely upset about the tension between the two rappers and feared their disagreement could somehow interfere with Rod’s music.

“They got some people love this [expletive]. Girl walked up to me crying and said, ‘Can you please leave him alone, Boosie? Leave him alone; you making me not like you. I used to like you; I need him to make this music for me.’”

The unexpected encounter showed just how personally some supporters have taken the disagreement. The young woman wasn’t asking about publishing percentages or songwriting credits. She simply wanted Boosie to stop going back and forth with an artist whose music meant so much to her.

Boosie, however, made it clear that his disagreement with Rod was never about preventing the Florida singer from making music.

“It’s just business. I was trying to clear the business,”

The rapper also explained that he felt slighted over the use of music associated with him and Webbie, particularly when it came to proper compensation and recognition. Although their public exchanges became heated, Boosie maintained that he wasn’t spending his days thinking about Rod Wave.

The Rod Wave fan encounter comes more than three years after the artists first clashed over a song that helped reignite interest in Boosie’s older catalog.

Their dispute began in 2023 after Rod Wave released “Long Journey” on his album “Nostalgia.” The record interpolates Boosie and Webbie’s 2010 song of the same name, which appeared on Boosie’s “Incarcerated” album.

An interpolation involves recreating recognizable lyrics or melodies from an existing composition rather than directly using the original recording. Those uses can involve publishing rights, songwriting credits, and licensing agreements.

Boosie initially acknowledged that younger artists revisiting his music helped introduce his work to new audiences. However, he argued that appreciation should also include proper financial compensation.

He previously explained that although he didn’t fully own the original recording, he still had publishing interests and songwriter rights connected to the music. He wanted to be compensated for his contribution.

Rod initially appeared willing to resolve the disagreement privately, but their discussions failed to produce a publicly confirmed settlement. Boosie eventually threatened legal action, although no lawsuit was confirmed to have been filed.

Things escalated again in August 2026 when Rod appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay and discussed how much he admired Boosie growing up.

Rod described his decision to revisit the older music as a way of showing appreciation to someone who influenced him. However, he also expressed disappointment that an artist he respected had threatened to take him to court.

Boosie responded publicly, accusing Rod of repeatedly using his music without giving him what he considered proper recognition or compensation.

The disagreement quickly turned into another argument over money.

Rod claimed he had offered Boosie $100,000 despite already having a relationship with the label controlling the music. According to Rod, Boosie rejected the offer because he wanted more.

Boosie disputed that account, claiming the two had actually discussed and agreed upon $150,000. Neither artist publicly produced documentation confirming a finalized agreement.

Boosie also accused Rod of building portions of his career around other artists’ music. However, using samples or interpolations does not automatically mean an artist has stolen anything, since those uses can be legally cleared.

The exchange became increasingly personal as both rappers fired back through social media.

Now, after a Rod Wave fan reportedly confronted him in tears, Boosie is emphasizing that his issue with the singer wasn’t rooted in personal hatred.
