As 21 Savage fights for his freedom amid reports that he is in the United States unlawfully as a United Kingdom national, TMZ has published new details from police reports about his arrest.
According to the police reports obtained by TMZ, Georgia officials said the rapper was driving toward a marked police car before his arrest on Sunday. Police say he was in a red Dodge Challenger that reportedly jumped a curb before officers, joined by ATF agents, approached the vehicle.
Officers reportedly ordered him to stop the car and toss the keys out of the window. The report claims he complied and also threw out a bottle holding an unknown substance. After he stepped out and was taken into custody, police say a search of the car turned up a loaded Glock in the glove box and a cup with an unknown substance in the center console.
It is still unclear how ICE became involved. TMZ reports that sources said the agency took 21 into custody directly, though the documents reportedly do not place ICE at the scene.
TMZ also reports that 21 may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. According to the outlet, rapper Young Nudy was driving another car alongside him and was the reported target of the operation, and a third car in the operation was driven by a man named Kalil, who reportedly had a rifle on the floorboard.
21 Savage’s lawyer, Brian Steel, says neither the car nor the gun belonged to the rapper. The details above come from police reports, and the rapper has not been convicted of any weapons charge.
