3 Children and 3 Adults Killed In Nashville School Shooting

Nashville School Shooting

Three children and three adults were killed Monday in a shooting at The Covenant School, a private Christian school in Nashville, TN. Authorities say the suspect, only identified as a 28-year-old woman, is also dead.

“Three pediatric patients were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, all having suffered gunshot wounds.  All three were pronounced dead after arrival,” officials said.

“Officers went to the gunfire.  When they got to the second floor, and saw the shooter, a female.  There was a five-member unit that was on the second floor at the time,” MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron said. Three adults at the school were also killed by the shooter.

The suspected shooter, a 28-year-old Nashville woman, who they initially believed was a teen, was fatally shot by police, authorities said.

UPDATE: 3 students & 3 adult staff members from Covenant School were fatally shot by the active shooter, who has now been identified as a 28-year-old Nashville woman.

“We have mental health professionals at the reunification site,” NFD spokesperson Kendra Looney said.  “There is a hotline for parents to call that is being set up.”

A reunification area has been established at 2100 Woodmont Blvd (Woodmont Baptist Church) for parents to meet their children who attend The Covenant School at 33 Burton Hills Blvd.

Last year, the school organized an active shooter training program for its Preschool through 6th-grade students.
