Authorities in Rapides Parish, Louisiana say a 71 year old Pineville man named Harvey has been charged with 100 counts of first degree rape in a case involving minors.
According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Harvey was taken into custody on April 9 after detectives received information about the allegations. Investigators said the alleged offenses date back to the 1970s.
He was first booked on 50 counts with bond set at $500,000. By April 12, detectives said they had enough evidence to rearrest him on 50 additional counts. CNN reported that his total bond is now $1 million and that a grand jury will formally consider the case.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing. Harvey is facing charges and has not been convicted of any crime.
