A representative for Grande revealed that the singer will be taking a break from public-facing work once her Eternal Sunshine Tour concludes in London on September 1.
According to People, the 33-year-old is also walking away from a major stage commitment. She has dropped out of the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George,” a production that was set to reunite her with “Wicked” costar Jonathan Bailey at London’s Barbican Centre next summer. That casting news had generated real buzz, which exits feel even bigger.
None of this is happening in a vacuum. Grande’s decision lands just days after the release of her “Petal” album and its title track music video, which reignited a wave of public concern over her noticeably thinner frame. The comment section under the “Petal” video on Grande’s YouTube channel quickly filled with fans expressing worry rather than the usual excitement, a shift that reportedly played into the timing of her rep’s statement.
A source close to Grande pushed back on the health concerns directly. According to Rolling Stone, the source said she performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved, framing her current body as a byproduct of the demanding tour rather than anything alarming. It is the same defense her camp has leaned on before, and it has never fully quieted the noise.

Grande wraps her North American dates in Chicago this week before closing out a ten-show run in London, and she is already booked for “Focker-in-law,” the next installment of the “Meet the Parents” franchise, alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, set for a November release.
