Swizz Beatz has settled his child support case with UK based singer Jahna Sebastian, and he paid her $42,000 legal bill after her lawyers got a judge to go after his money.
The New York Post reports that the producer and Jahna, whose real name is Zhanna Andrianova, reached an out of court settlement over their daughter Nicole. Swizz signed the deal in July, and she signed in August. The amount of the child support was not disclosed.
As part of the settlement, Swizz agreed to cover Jahna’s legal fees. Her lawyers say the money did not come fast enough. They went to Manhattan Family Court, and on Thursday a judge granted them a money judgment to collect the $42,000. That opened the door to his assets being seized or his bank accounts frozen. Swizz Beatz sent a check for the full amount to her attorney, Raoul Felder, the very next day.
Jahna is a Russian born singer who lives in London. She met Swizz in a London club in 2007, while he was still married to his ex wife Mashonda, and Nicole was born in May 2008. Swizz flew to London with Alicia Keys in 2009 to take a paternity test, and it confirmed he was Nicole’s father.
The case dragged on for a while. Sources say Swizz had been paying interim child support, but the final deal kept getting pushed back because Jahna had trouble getting a visa to come to the US for court dates. She also turned down a settlement he offered a year ago.
Swizz Beatz now has four children by four different women. He has his son Prince Nasir with Nicole Levy, Kasseem Jr. with Mashonda, Nicole with Jahna, and Egypt with Alicia Keys, whom he married in July 2010.
This isn’t his first child support headline either. Last year he paid off $334,000 in back child support he owed Mashonda.
His attorney says Swizz takes care of his kids, period. “Mr. Dean has never failed to deliver on his responsibility to his children,” the lawyer said.
If $42,000 is just the legal bill, we can only imagine what the monthly payments look like.
