Leave it to Jay-Z and Beyonce to bring the appreciation for art back to life.
The dynamic duo’s “Apes***” music video was a work of art on its own, being shot in the world famous Louvre Museum. Paying homage in their creative way for classical pieces like the Mona Lisa, The Coronation of Empress Joséphine, and the Venus de Milo was an eye-catcher for many. Since it may have been an everyday experience for Parisian locals, a new found appreciation came from outside the famed city/country.
A statement from the Lourve announced the museum hit a record of 10.2 million visitors in 2018. Something that, “No other museum in the world has ever equaled.”
The boost has affected movement in the building so much that they are creating a slew of twelve new, free events called “Saturday Night Openings.”
Louvre’s President-Director Jean-Luc Martinez explained, “I’m delighted that the Louvre is so popular. Our goal is not so much to attract more visitors as to provide better visiting conditions…The renovation of the infrastructures under the Pyramid and the introduction of time-slot tickets have helped us level out visitor numbers throughout the year and reduce ticket lines outside the museum. So although there are more visitors, everyone can explore the Louvre at their own pace and appreciate the artworks to their heart’s content.”
Daily Mail reported terror attacks in 2015 caused a great fall in tourism for the French capital up until 2017. Gratefully, the astounding support, just from the Carters music video, revived them from the devastation.
