Another man has officially been charged for the shooting death of Houston’s Jazmine Barnes.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Larry Woodruffe is the latest person facing capital murder charges. Investigators were able to grab Woodruffe on a drug possession charge, as well as “additional corroborating evidence” in the 7-year-old’s death. A preliminary hearing will be held Thursday morning, according to CNN.
Eric Black was the first suspect brought in being responsible for Jazmine getting shot in the head over a possible case of mistaken identity. A simple traffic stop resulted in cuffing Black on marijuana possession, who was later the accused driver of the car during the 7 A.M. drive-by.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez credited the “persistence of homicide investigators” for gathering evidence that matched tips. He was also sure to recognize Writer and Activist Shaun King for coming forth with an anonymous tip that was given to him which led them to Black.
The 20-year-old’s first court date is scheduled for February 15th. Further updates on whether District Attorney Kim Ogg and fellow colleagues will pursue the death penalty may come later.
