The John Cannon

Fresh off his release from ICE custody, 21 Savage turned himself in to authorities on charges of theft by deception.

Shortly after the “A Lot” rapper reunited with his family, 21 was slapped with a felony warrant over a 2016 club gig. According to TMZ, the rapper was booked to perform in Southern Georgia in 2016 and was reportedly given a $9,500 check in advance to lock him in.

Upon arrival, 21 received an additional $7,500, but, according to the publication, he left before taking the stage – with the payment. As a result, the promoter said he left her with a $17,000 tab, so she filed a report and requested a felony warrant for theft by deception.

Although the warrant was issued, it sat for over two years, according to the publication. But, after 21’s Ice arrest, the club owner decided to pursue a criminal case, so the promoter called the sheriff’s office to have 21 picked up on the warrant.

In turn, the rapper’s lawyer said, “Mr. Joseph has committed no criminal offense. We look forward to an amicable resolution between the parties in the near future with no criminal implications whatsoever.”

Since then, 21 has turned himself in on the charge. Although he’s been released on his own recognizance, the felony charge could hurt his chances to stay in the U.S. But, ultimately, 21 will have to address the charge in court or cough up the $17,000 to settle the dispute.
