LaVar Ball Says His Son, LiAngelo Ball, Would Go No. 1 In The 2019 NBA Draft Over Zion Williamson

Just weeks after LaVar Ball ousted his business manager, Alan Foster, over missing Big Baller Brand funds, the over-the-top father of three is back in the spotlight for his overwhelming confidence in his middle son. 

Back in 2017, Ball pulled his son, LiAngelo Ball, out of UCLA after the young baller was suspended indefinitely in the wake of a shoplifting incident in China. A few weeks later, the baller signed a 1-year deal to play professional basketball with Lithuanian club Prienu Vytautas, alongside his younger brother, Lamelo. 

After four months overseas, Ball, once again, pulled his sons out of the deal, and instead, returned to the states to prepare Gelo for the 2018 NBA draft. However, the baller was never selected. But now, ahead of the 2019 NBA draft, Ball is convinced his son is better than everyone on the projected list, including Duke’s own, Zion Williamson. 

“Watch what Gelo do this year,” Ball said. “Guarantee he’ll be in the summer league and guarantee he’ll have an NBA contract this year.” 

“Biggest and strongest 2-guard in the NBA right now, ain’t nobody built like him in the 2-guard. 6’6”, 240 lbs,” Ball added. “If Gelo was coming out doing his thing, he’d be the first pick. This year. Can’t nobody hold a candle to that boy.” 

“He can’t hold a candle to that boy,” he added when TMZ asked about the projected No. 1 overall pick. “He’ll shoot his lights out man, and he’s stronger than Zion.” 

“He ain’t no Big Baller,” Ball continued. “He’s a Williamson. Williamsons ain’t stronger than Ballers!”
