Miley Cyrus Clarifies Her “I Love You, Nicki, But I Listen To Cardi” Lyric, Says “They’re Both Queens”

Over the weekend, Miley Cyrus made headlines for the release of her new hip-hop-adjacent track, “Cattitude,” in which she dredged up the longstanding beef between Hip-Hop superstars, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Although Cyrus’ lyrics led many to believe she was picking sides in the now-defunct feud, the 26-year-old insisted that is not the case.

“I don’t think there is beef now anymore,” Cyrus said of the tensions between the two female rappers. “Actually, one of my songs says ‘You want to know if we’re really beefin? There’s no beef. I’m a vegan.’ I think you’re allowed to enjoy two artists that fill a similar lane,” she added in an interview with Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp.

In the song, Miley rapped, “I love you, Nicki, but I listen to Cardi,’ but in her explanation, the singer insisted that there is no competition between the two because they’re each in their own lanes.

“I just always grew up collaborating with Selena [Gomez] and Demi [Lovado], and there was never competition,” Cyrus said. “That’s why Ariana [Grande] is one of my best friends. When you are authentically yourself, no one can be you. So, you’re never worried about someone stealing your place because it can’t be taken because you’re the only one. I think what they do is different from each other. That’s why they both get a crown. They don’t have to share. They don’t have to break it in half. There’s no reason to fight over it. They’re both queens. And anytime you want to feel powerful and strong, that’s my go-to, Cardi and Nicki.”
