Kyhirah Clemons and Chonda Edmond have been arrested in Texas after allegedly attacking a 12-year-old with what “looked like baseball bats” in retaliation over an argument she had with a relative of the two women.
According to Fox News, the two women were taken into custody Saturday following the incident on June 12 at Killeen High School. Clemons, 32, and Edmond, 44, both face a felony charge of injury to a child and are being held on a $100K bond.
The arrest affidavit says the victim told police she got into an altercation that day with a student at Killeen Middle School. When the student’s mother, who has been identified as Edmond, came to pick up her child, a fight erupted between the parties.
The 12-year-old later went to Killeen High School to hang out with friends, only to be approached by Edmond once more and a woman claiming to be the aunt of the classmate, Fox News reports.
The victim detailed to investigators that “both adult females had objects that looked like baseball bats and began to strike her with the objects,” according to the affidavit. She continued to say she lost consciousness during the alleged beating, and when she regained consciousness, “she was still being struck while on the ground.”
A surveillance video examined by officers “depicts parts of the reported events” and shows “individuals arriving at Killeen High School in an SUV and approaching [the victim] with club-like objects in their hands.”
In an interview with police, Edmonds reportedly described Clemons as “a close friend that she refers to as a sister and is her only family member that lives locally.”
According to the publication, when officers arrived at the scene of the alleged attack on June 12, they found the victim lying on the ground unclear of the extent of her injuries.
