Two women in Texas have been arrested after police say they attacked a 12 year old girl with objects that looked like baseball bats. Kyhirah, 32, and Chonda, 44, were taken into custody on Saturday. According to Fox News, both face a felony charge of injury to a child and are being held on $100,000 bond. They have not been convicted of anything, and no statements from either woman or an attorney were included in the reports.
The arrest affidavit, as reported by KWTX and Fox News, says the incident happened on June 12 in Killeen, Texas. The girl told police she had gotten into an argument that day with a student at Killeen Middle School. When that student’s mother, identified as Chonda, came to pick up her child, a fight reportedly broke out.
Later that day, the girl went to Killeen High School to hang out with friends. The affidavit says Chonda approached her again along with a woman who claimed to be the classmate’s aunt. The girl told investigators that both women had objects that looked like baseball bats and struck her, that she lost consciousness, and that she was still being hit when she woke up on the ground.
Police say surveillance video “depicts parts of the reported events” and shows people arriving at the school in an SUV and approaching the girl with club like objects. Officers who arrived found the girl on the ground, and the extent of her injuries was not clear in the reports. Chonda reportedly told police that Kyhirah is a close friend she considers a sister.
The case is moving through the court system, and the charges are allegations at this stage.
