Just one day after Utah Jazz center, Rudy Gobert, tested positive for the coronavirus, sparking the indefinite suspension of the NBA season, a second Jazz player has contracted the virus.
According to ESPN, Donovan Mitchell has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“We are working closely with the CDC, Oklahoma and Utah state officials, and the NBA to monitor their health and determine the best path moving forward,” the team said in a statement.
The diagnosis comes just days after Gobert was seen touching all the microphones and tape recorders at the end of his press conference. In fact, Jazz players privately said that Gobert was careless about the virus, touching other teammates and their belongings.
As a result, Jazz players, and other teams the players have come in contact with, have been asked to self-quarantine. In the last ten days, the Jazz has played the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors.
“The NBA will use this hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic,” the league said of its indefinite suspension.
