Fans of the late Kobe Bryant may be able to get their hands on some of his memorabilia for the right price.
According to Bleacher Report, 86 pieces of memorabilia, including his 2000 championship ring gifted to his mother, will be auctioned off online through May 16.
Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin revealed that this collection is the largest Bryant memorabilia collection ever.
“We believe it is the largest collection ever in one place of Kobe Bryant memorabilia,” Goldin said.
This isn’t the first time Goldin Auctions has participated in selling Bryant memorabilia. Back in 2013, the company sold some of Bryant’s items. However, the NBA legend sued them.
At the time, ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that Bryant’s parents provided Goldin Auctions with the memorabilia. However, Bryant argued that they weren’t entitled to sell the pieces.
“Documents provided to the auction company by the Bryants had said otherwise,” Rovell reported back in 2013. “Eventually, a settlement was reached that resulted in about 90 percent of the items being pulled out of the auction.”⠀⠀⠀
Goldin also revealed that the Bryants have nothing to do with the current auction and that each item being sold has been acquired from sellers online across the world.
However, Goldin Auctions won’t be keeping all of the proceeds, as 5% made from each sale will go towards the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.
Other items part of the current auction include game-worn jerseys, sneakers worn in NBA championship games, etc.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, bids for items of the current collection are set to exceed $100,000.
