New Caney Suspect Arrested For Stealing Elderly Man’s Stimulus Check

According to ABC 13, an elderly man’s stimulus check was stolen out of his mailbox. Fortunately, the check was retrieved and given back to him.

Law officials reportedly said that the check was found on a suspect that was walking through the Peach Creek Forest neighborhood located in New Caney, Texas, this past Wednesday around 10 p.m.

Police deputies from Montgomery County Precinct 4 searched Jason Corey Dunn, who is 23-years-old, and found two checks that weren’t his along with methamphetamine.

One of those checks was the federal stimulus check for $1,200, while the other was from Lone Star College.

Dunn allegedly told deputies that the stimulus check belonged to his cousin. The deputies then went to the address that was located on the check to find the elderly man that was patiently waiting for it to arrive.

“He had been looking for it. He said the suspect did not have permission to have it, so we were able to place him in custody for narcotics as well as stealing the elderly gentleman’s stimulus check,” Constable Rowdy Hayden said.

The suspect is reportedly charged with a third-degree felony for the alleged theft of the stimulus check along with a drug possession charge.
