Two Georgia Men Arrested In Connection To The Deaths of Two Sisters Found Under a Bridge With Bags Over Their Heads

Georgia police have arrested two men in connection with the deaths of two sisters who were found under a bridge with bags over their heads.

The bodies of Vanita Richardson, 19, and Trevena Campbell, 30, were found by the Georgia Department of Transportation workers on May 13 under the Etowah Bridge near Rome.

Officials said the victims were “apparently dropped over the bridge,” and shotgun shells were found near their bodies.

Now, just eight days later, officials have arrested two men in connection to the case. However, the men have not been charged with the deaths of the sisters.

Desmond Lavonte Brown, 28, was arrested on Monday on a charge of obstruction of an officer, while Devin Lashawn Watts, 36, was charged with theft of receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“These arrests were the results of search warrants executed on apartments and vehicles based on leads that were developed and tips received from the GBI Tip Line,” the GBI said in a statement. “The investigation remains active and ongoing.”

According to local reports, Brown was arrested after he was pulled over by police and officers executed a search warrant on his car. Officers instructed Brown to stay away from the vehicle, but when he still attempted to reach in, he resisted officers and was subsequently arrested.
