George Floyd’s Brother Says Donald Trump Ignored Him During Phone Call, “He Didn’t Give Me An Opportunity To Even Speak”

After the murder of George Floyd, his brother had a one-sided conversation with Trump to share his feelings about recent events and how he wants justice.

Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, stated that his conversation with Trump “was so fast,” recalling it to Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“He didn’t give me an opportunity to even speak. It was hard. I was trying to talk to him, but he just kept, like, pushing me off, like ‘I don’t want to hear what you’re talking about,’” Philonise Floyd said of his phone conversation with Trump.

“I just told him I want justice. I said that I can’t believe that they committed a modern-day lynching in broad daylight.”

According to CNN, on Friday, during a roundtable event at the White House, Trump vaguely addressed his conversation with Floyd’s family.

“I want to express our nation’s deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathies to the family of George Floyd. I spoke to members of the family — terrific people,” Trump said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Philonise Floyd also had the opportunity to speak with former Vice President Joe Biden.

“I never had to beg a man before,” Floyd said. “ But, I asked him, could he please, please get justice for my brother. I need it. I do not want to see him on a shirt just like the other guys. Nobody deserved that. Black folk don’t deserve that. We’re all dying,” he said. “Black lives matter.”
