On Saturday night, a video surfaced of two college students being ripped out of their car and one being tased.

Sunday evening, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms announced that two officers were terminated after a viral video showed them using excessive force.

In the video, the HBCU students, Taniyah Pilgram and Messiah Young, were sitting in their vehicle when they were tased and then snatched out of the vehicle.

Bottoms stated in a news conference that video was disturbing and clearly was excessive use of force.

“Sometime during the night, I saw very disturbing video of two young college students who were in downtown Atlanta yesterday evening,” Bottoms said. “The use of force is never acceptable.”

There were a total of five officers present during the unfortunate incident, but after review of the video, two were terminated, and three are on desk duty.

Spelman student, Taniyah Pilgram, was released around midnight. Morehouse student, Messiah Young, suffered from an epileptic seizure and was released from the precinct sometime Sunday morning.

Young and Pilgram are said to be with their families during this time.
