DJ Cassidy debuted his Pass the Mic Vol. 2, the second installment of his virtual series, on Wednesday featuring some of hip-hop’s most legendary emcees.
Introducing himself, he begins the set stating, “Party people! I’d like to welcome you all to pass the mic. This journey right here is brought to you by my hip-hop heroes, dedicated to all the heroes in the world dedicated to health, freedom, justice. I’m going to pass the mic from my home to the next, to spread love from one home to another.”
He started the nearly 40-minute set with Run DMC performing “Sucker M.C.’s” before bringing in greats such as LL Cool J, Chuck D, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Salt N Pepa, MC Lyte, among others, who all performed their classics virtually.
In July of this year, Cassidy debuted his quarantine-style Livestream series via Twitch, and “passes the mic” to the next participant who performs along with their song from the comfort of their own home. They pass the mic to the next, and so on.
This old-school edition reeled in over 122K people on Wednesday night.
