A Dania Beach, Florida man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder after the Broward Sheriff’s Office says a woman’s death in a canal was made to look like an accidental drowning.
Lorenzo, 28, was arrested on Saturday in the death of Allyson, 23, whose body was found floating in a Dania Beach canal in late September. Deputies say the scene first appeared to be a drowning, but homicide detectives later determined he may have been involved.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives believe Lorenzo tied Allyson’s hands and feet, threw her into the canal, then jumped in after her and held her underwater until she drowned. Detectives say he then untied her before leaving the scene.
Reports did not say how Lorenzo and Allyson knew each other. No comment from Lorenzo or from Allyson’s family had been reported at the time of publishing. The charge is an allegation, and Lorenzo has not been convicted of anything.
