Odell Beckham Jr. is done for the remainder of the season.
The Cleveland Browns wide receiver suffered a season-ending injury when he tore the ACL in his left knee during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. ESPN reports that an MRI confirmed the injury on Monday morning.
Beckham was injured in the first quarter when Bengals’ Darius Phillips intercepted quarterback Baker Mayfield’s first pass of the game. Beckham chased Phillips and attempted to tackle him after the interception. The star wide receiver limped to the locker room after attempting the tackle.
“Obviously, it’s a big loss. He’s a huge part of what we do,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday, according to ESPN. “So now we’ll just have to huddle up, and find some different ways and find some different people and put them in that role.
“You never replace a player of Odell’s caliber with one player. It’s going to take multiple guys,” Stefanski added.
After Beckham’s exit, Mayfield completed a franchise-record 21 consecutive passes and had five touchdowns in the Browns 37-34 win over the Bengals.
“Man, I know how f*cking hard you work and how invested you are to be legendary. My heart hurt!!!!! I love you brudda,” teammate Jarvis Landry posted on Instagram on Monday.
Mayfield posted, “A win is a win. That one was for you 13,” after the win.
In his seventh NFL season, Beckham finishes this year with 23 receptions for 319 yards and another 72 rushing yards.
