Phil Collins has issued a cease and desist order to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign after the unauthorized use of “In the Air Tonight” during a rally in Iowa.
Critics online disapproved of the song of choice as the title “In the Air Tonight” can be perceived as insensitive, blasting over a maskless crowd in Iowa where Covid-19 cases continue to increase.
A spokesperson told Consequence of Sound, “Yes we are well aware of the Trump campaign’s use of this song, and we have already issued a ‘cease and desist’ letter via our lawyers who continue to monitor the situation.
Phil Collins is the most recent artist to issue Trump a cease and desist order for the use of their songs, other artists like The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and the estate of Leonard Cohen has issued Trump a cease and desist order as well.
