Blue Ivy Carter is nominated for a Grammy along with her mommy Beyoncé for the hit song “Brown Skin Girl.”
“Shout out to Rumi and Sir. Love, Blue” was the adorable lyrics fans got to hear from the little Carter on Bey’s beloved song “Brown Skin Girl.” And now, Blue, credited as a featured artist on the song, has been nominated for the 2021 Grammys. Her mother earned a nomination for Best Music Video.
Initially, the list that was sent out didn’t have the 8-year-old named, but the nominations have since been updated with her name. They also updated it with Nigerian singer Wizkid’s name, who was featured on the song and in the video. SAINT JHN is on the song but was not in the video; NBC Boston reports his name was not added.
Best Music Video highlights the main and featured artists, as well as the video’s director and producer. The hit song celebrates the beauty, elegance, and grace of dark-skinned women. The video features well-known celeb beauties Kelly Rowland, Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Campbell, and more.
The song is one of the track’s on Beyoncé’s “The Lion King: The Gift.” On top of this nomination, Bey was nominated for a total of nine Grammy nominations this year. So far, “Brown Skin Girl” has won Blue two Soul Train Music Awards, one BET Award, and an NAACP Image Award. The little Carter is also listed as one of the writers of the song alongside Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Wizkid, SAINT JHN, and others.
The Grammys will take place on January 31.
