On Wednesday, “WAP” raptress Megan Thee Stallion appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she thanked those who supported the raunchy single, even if they were offended by it.

“First of all, I wanna say thank you to Cardi for even putting me on the song,” Megan said before addressing the immense backlash that the song received from conservatives. “But, I mean, I felt like that was really, like, a little weird. I know the Republicans have been having a bad year, and they probably needed to take their frustration out somewhere.”

Despite the think-pieces and endless criticism that both Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B received for the track’s derogatory lyrics, the 25-year-old Grammy nominee is not phased by the right-winger naysayers.

“But I wanna tell them thank you for the streams!” Meg said jokingly. “Because without you, I don’t know if we would’ve been here! But no, them people crazy — why you worried about my WAP?”

“WAP” and it’s prolific visual, which featured cameos from fellow rapper Sukihana and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner, debuted on August 7th. The tune shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Weeks later, on August 26th, “WAP” was certified platinum by the RIAA.
