Rihanna faces a lawsuit after allegedly using a track in one of her Fenty ads that the artist had not cleared.
The song titled “Good Habits (and Bad)” by King Khan and Saba Lou was used in an Instagram post promoting a Fenty Beauty product. The father-daughter duo claims that the music and beauty mogul nor her team received “their blessing, or legal permission, to use the tune.” They claim that the “What’s My Name Star” found the track on a streaming platform and incorporated it in the marketing post. The ad garnered 3.4 million views.
This is the second time this year that the Grammy award winner and her team have been accused of using another creator’s work in one of her Fenty ventures. Designer and artist Selah Marley, the daughter of icon Lauryn Hill, accused the 32-year-old of stealing several concepts from her for her Savage x Fenty fashion, which streamed on Amazon Prime.
King Khan and Saba Lou ask that their song no longer be featured in future advertising by Fenty and unspecified damages. Rihanna nor her representatives have responded publicly to the lawsuit.
