Record-holding mixed martial arts fighter Travis Fulton has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.
Fulton, 43, is being charged with sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography, and receipt of child pornography in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, Cedar Rapids Division. According to ESPN, he has a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday. If Fulton is convicted, he faces up to 70 years in prison.
In November 2020, Fulton attempted to convince a minor under the age of 18 to “engage in sexually explicit conduct” to produce “visual depictions of such conduct” with a digital camera, according to ESPN. According to court documents, Fulton is also accused of knowingly possessing or attempting to possess sexually explicit content of a minor on a flash drive, including a depiction of a child under 12 years old.
Additionally, he is being charged with receiving and attempting to receive child pornography via “interstate and foreign commerce.” Because the camera and flash drive were purchased outside the state of Iowa, the case falls under federal jurisdiction.
Fulton is also awaiting trial on willful injury and domestic assault charges from a previous incident. The disgraced fighter is accused of punching a woman in the head and back in September of 2019.
Fulton holds the MMA record for career fights, with 320 fights dating back to 1996. He is nicknamed “The Ironman” for his record number of bouts.
