Cardi B has teamed up with doll company Real Women Are to release a limited-edition doll designed exclusively by her.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper announced on Friday that her doll was now available for pre-order. According to Real Women Are official website, the exclusive doll can only be reserved for the next 72 hours. The Cardi-inspired toy will begin shipping in July 2021.
The 28-year-old mother of one says that she was inspired to get into the doll business so that her daughter would have a toy that looks like herself.
“As everyone knows, I’m a mom. And today, more than ever, it’s important to me to give my daughter inspiration and badass women to look up to.”
Real Women Are is an up-and-coming brand that thrives on providing representation to young girls of all ethnicities in the form of trendy dolls. As the first minority-women owned and led doll brand, Cardi believes it would be the perfect company to bring her vision to life.
“Working with Real Women Are is a chance for me to provide my daughter and other little girls something that looks like them to play with to inspire them. We’re in the White House now, but we’re still so far behind in other places. Representation matters.”
Those looking to obtain one of these exclusive dolls will spend $35 to get on the limited pre-order list. The doll will include the signature style reminiscent of the trendsetter Cardi herself. Fans can also purchase the VIP Cardi B x RWA Gift Set, which features the doll with gold-plated accessories. The special edition set is priced at $99. Other accessories and doll clothing will be made available for purchase at a later date.
Cardi said in an Instagram video that she wanted to create dolls inspired by other women artists and career women as the toy line expanded.
