Chris Watts, the man who brutally murdered his wife and two daughters, wants to keep in touch with the woman he killed his family over.

The 35-year-old is serving five life sentences over the murders that shocked the world in 2018. In addition to killing his two young daughters, Celeste and Bella, and wife Shanann, Watts was also charged with the murder of the couple’s unborn son. His motive for the killings was his affair with Nichol Kessinger, who wanted to start a new life. Despite the slayings, his mistress is back in his life.

Though Kessinger allegedly changed her name after the trial, a source says that the former lovers have been communicating again.

David Carter, who previously served time with Watts, told MailOnline that the murderer revealed that he was speaking with Kessinger again.

“He told me she said that she needed to speak to him to clear some things up,” Carter said. “He wouldn’t tell me exactly what she had said. He wasn’t supposed to have any contact with her, but she initiated it by writing to him.” He also claimed that Watts kept photos of Bella and Celeste on his walls but didn’t have any pictures of Shanann. Watts also claims to have nightmares nightly of his two daughters.

Watts is currently being housed at the Dodge Correctional Institution. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections would not confirm nor deny Carter’s claims.

Kessinger and Watts’ relationship was documented in the Netflix documentary, “American Murder: The Family Next Door,” which covered the case. The two met while working together. At the time, Watts claimed that he and his wife were separating. However, Watts was still married with a child on the way. Though they were experiencing issues, Shanann was dedicated to working on her marriage.

In letters to a penpal, Watts wrote that his love for Kessinger drove him to murder.

“All I could feel was now I was free to be with Nikki.” He also wrote, “feelings of my love for her was overcoming me. I felt no remorse.”
