Remember how we reported earlier this week that the Memphis Grizzlies had their eyes on a pair of NBA players?
Memphis bid on Jeff Green and got him! They were in need of a small forward and Green is having his best season yet, averaging 17.6 points per game. Green, traveled with the Celtics to Indiana but did not play against the Pacers. He was pulled from the starting lineup and replaced by Jae Crowder. The team first aimed for Miami’s, Luol Deng, but failed to make the proper bidding moves. The Grizzlies, who had lost power forward, Zach Randolph, lost six out of their last ten games.
As suspected, Grizzlies, Tayshaun Prince, will pack his bags for Boston and they’ll also grab a first round draft pick from the deal. The trade won’t hurt Boston’s pockets, though. Prince’s $7.7m contract expires soon which may leave him in limbo for a while when the season ends (if the Celtics don’t keep him). The Celtics recently traded Brandan Wright to Phoenix for “a conditional first round draft pick and created a $5m trade exception in the process,” reported NBA.com’s, Fran Blinebury.
The two teams may include a third team to round off the trades but will “most likely happen with or without,” says an ESPN source.  No official trade dates have been announced but will probably occur within the next two weeks.
