Dunkin' Employee Charged With Manslaughter For Punching Customer Who Called Him A Racial Slur

A Dunkin’ employee in Florida has been charged with aggravated manslaughter after a 77 year old customer died following a confrontation at a Tampa area store, according to police and jail records.

Corey, 27, was arrested in connection with the May 5th incident. Police said the customer died two days after the altercation.

According to what Corey told authorities, the two argued at the drive thru after the customer became upset over service. Corey said the customer, who was a regular, was extremely rude that day and came inside to confront him. Corey told authorities the man used a racial slur, that he asked the man to repeat himself, and that when the man did, he punched him and the man fell. Those details come from Corey’s own account to investigators, and the charge remains an allegation.

Jail records show Corey was first arrested on a charge of battery on a person older than 65 and was released the next day after posting $2,000 bail. He was arrested again on May 7 on the more serious charge and ordered held without bail.

As with any case, a charge is not a conviction, and the legal process was just getting started at the time of this report.
