I was wondering if you had any advice for a regular girl trying to get next to a celebrity. Not for money, fame or personal gain, but for a genuine connection.
I am 22, work two jobs and don’t go out much, so it’s pretty hard to be in the right place at the right time. Not to mention I don’t have connections in the city I live in. I’ve had a particular interest in this artist for 2yrs. I feel that if we ever had the chance to meet we would hit off, as friends or possibly more. The only problem is no random female is getting close enough to find out. What could I do without looking like a groupie or thot?”
We all have celeb crushes and there is no shame in that. Hell, that’s what Baller Alert is for. Snagging a ‘Baller’ right? Now, as someone who doesn’t go out often, the likelihood of you meeting your celeb crush is slim to none. If you want to meet him you’ll have to go out more, at least to places you know he’ll be. Baller Alert is good about posting event flyers and real-time info about where a celeb is spotted. There’s only ONE way around meeting your celeb crush in person and that is (you guessed it) social media.
So many celebrities use social media about as much as they use air to breathe. If you’re attractive and your personality is great, getting a celebrity to follow you back (or even just engage in conversation) isn’t difficult. Spark up a discussion that sets you apart from every one else. Treat him like a human, not like he’s famous and I can guarantee you’ll win him over. Most of all, make him laugh.
Keep in mind the old saying “never meet your heroes” because it’s true in so many cases. Sometimes what makes celebs so awesome is the fantasy that we can’t get to them. There’s an allure. The minute you meet them you find that their attitude may suck and they’re not anything like you imagined them to be. Then you’re crushed.
My best advice would be focus on making budding connections and friendships with “regular” men in your town first. Think about it, celebrities are just regular people. Take away the fans and television appearances and they’re no different from Joe Schmo down the street. Plus, befriending a celebrity won’t do anything for those random lonely weekends when you want to just hang out with likeminded people. You never know, you might find love in a local guy who’s a Baller in his own right. That, or he will give your social skills some practice for when it’s time to approach your dream Baller.
