Rihanna admitted that she is still trying to come to grips with being among the world’s wealthiest.
During her latest interview with The New York Times, the singer turned beauty and fashion mogul said that her new financial status is “tricky” but hopes to inspire others who have struggled in their lifetime.
“It’s hard to even accept that’s where you’re at because I know where I’ve come from,” she said. “At the same time, it feels good to be able to inspire young women and boys, who like me, come from humble beginnings, who come from parents who are immigrants or who are immigrants themselves, to be able to do this.”
In August, Forbes magazine declared that the “Kiss It Better” star was a billionaire after reaching a net worth of approximately $1.7 billion. The Fenty Beauty founder owns 50 percent of the wildly successful company, which is valued at $1.4 billion by itself. The beauty brand offers a wide selection of makeup products and has been praised for its inclusivity for all skin tones. Her business portfolio also includes Fenty Skin and SavageXFenty. Her luxury Fenty clothing brand was the only endeavor that didn’t catch on as expected. It officially ceased operation in February of this year. Despite this minor hiccup, Riri has been crowned the “wealthiest female musician in the world” and the second richest woman entertainer after actress and talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
While on the red carpet at her SavageXFenty fashion show, the 33-year-old also confessed that it was “weird” receiving congratulations messages from people after her billionaire status was revealed.
