Nike postponed its upcoming release of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack collaboration with Travis Scott in the wake of the Astroworld tragedy that left ten people dead and hundreds more injured.
On Monday, the sneaker giant wrote on its SNKRS app that “Out of respect for everyone by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack.”
Scott has had several high-profile releases with the brand, the first launching in 2017. His latest collaboration was scheduled to be released on December 16.
The sneakers were set to drop in the “Saturn Gold” and “Baroque Brown” colorways and would have retailed for $160.
Nike made its announcement just one day after 9-year-old Ezra Blount became the 10th concert attendee to pass away after the crowd surged during the festival at NRG Park.
The move by Nike to postpone the sneakers comes as the Houston Rockets decided to cancel a scheduled “Travis Scott Night.” Instead, the event will hold a moment of silence for those who lost their life.
