A 25-year-old Houston woman was reportedly shot and killed after showing the man she was dating her pregnancy ultrasound.Â
Cavanna Smith’s body was found on the side of the road back in October after telling Kwanmaine Travion Boyd that she was pregnant. Her family told ABC13 that Boyd was not happy about the pregnancy.
“He was not happy and said he did not want any more children,” Brittany Wilson, Smith’s sister, told the outlet.
The following day, Smith went to Boyd’s house to get the money he owed her. That same night, one of her sisters received a text from her best friend. She sent a screenshot of a text from Smith, saying, “I have been kidnapped, I’m in the back of Kwan’s truck.”
The text prompted Smith’s family to call 911, and her body was located on Reid Street, about three miles from her home.Â
Witnesses recall seeing Boyd flee in a white truck. The truck was located earlier this month outside an abandoned home, according to People.
Police records show that an ultrasound picture and positive pregnancy test were found in Boyd’s apartment, along with a note.
Now Boyd faces a capital murder charge for Smith’s death. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Boyd is described as standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
