A Starbucks worker in New Jersey has tested positive for hepatitis A.
The Camden County Department of Health has confirmed a Starbucks employee working at a location in Gloucester Township was diagnosed with hepatitis A. The department is now asking that everyone who visited the shop on Blackwood Clementon Road gets vaccinated against hepatitis A immediately.
Fox Business reports that those who visited the shop on Nov. 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 or 13 should get vaccinated.
During an investigation into the matter, officials found no evidence of any health violations, the news outlet reports. However, the store has been closed until all employees have been vaccinated.
“There’s a limited time that people can get the vaccine where it’s effective,” Caryelle Lasher with the Camden County Health Department said, according to FOX 29, Fox Business reports. “For people who were exposed, if they get the vaccine within two weeks of that exposure, they can prevent hepatitis and prevent getting ill.”
Some of the symptoms of hepatitis A – a liver infection – include tiredness, fever, stomach, nausea, diarrhea, and other side effects. The infection does not typically lead to death but can stick around in your system for months.
