A Houston area “beauty consultant” was charged with manslaughter for performing unlicensed silicone butt injections that killed a woman.
47-year-old Lisa Fernandez was arrested on Tuesday for her involvement in the death of 38-year-old Marja McClendon.
McClendon died days after visiting Fernandez at her apartment in 2018. The self-described “beauty consultant” administered illegal silicone injections incorrectly with a syringe.
McClendon (who traveled from St. Louis, Missouri) was in pain and feeling sick after her first round of injections on April 24, 2018, but returned the following day to receive her second round of injections after Fernandez flatly refused to refund her.
McClendon had trouble breathing and started coughing up blood before she was taken into a local emergency room.
McClendon went back to St. Louis before doctors were able to complete her medical evaluation. She was then treated at a hospital in Missouri where she died on April 30, 2018.
