A New Jersey mother faces murder charges after admitting to stabbing her 5-month-old baby to death Friday night. She told police she killed her daughter to “fulfill the last of her sins, murder.”
Kristhie Alcazar, 26, was arrested Friday and charged with murder. She made her first court appearance via Zoom on Monday after being charged and is due back in court on Thursday for a detention hearing.
According to the complaint obtained by ABC 6, police responded to a 911 call to a Penns Grove Garden home. They located Alcazar arguing with an unidentified person and the infant dead from apparent stab wounds.
While being interviewed, Alcazar expressed no remorse and told police, “she would not change any of the events surrounding the murder.” She expressed that she was of “sound mind and body” at the time of the murder.
The infant girl’s father was not home at the time of the stabbing.
Alcazar’s neighbors said they were shocked to learn what happened.
“It’s a tragedy,” her neighbor, Wandy Burgos, said. “She was a nice, nice lady.”
Alcazar is facing life in prison if convicted.
