Ariana Grande is being slammed for “Asianfishing” after social media users claim she purposefully altered her looks to appear “more Asian.”
The backlash comes after the “7 Rings” singer shared images from a recent photoshoot. In the pics, she rocked her hair slicked back and a simple makeup look that included her signature winged eyeliner and a bright red lip. She wore a white ribbon tied around her neck and a suited grey look in the outdoor setting.
Fans quickly flooded her Instagram comments with Asianfishing accusations, which caused the photo to be deleted shortly after. However, screenshots of the images made their way across social media platforms. On Twitter, fans kept the dragging going. One user wrote, “Ariana Grande think she asian now.” Another questioned if the pop star is now moving more towards Asian aesthetics since KPop is what’s currently “cool.”

While the world was busy criticizing the Grammy-award winner over the past few days, influencer Oli London, who has undergone multiple surgeries to appear Korean, praised Grande’s new look.
