Wendy Williams and Sherri Shepherd

After the news broke that Sherri Shepherd will be taking over for Wendy Williams, the 54-year-old actress shared her opinions on Wendy Williams and the impact of her legacy.

On Wednesday’s episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live!,’ Shepherd told host Andy Cohen what she admires most about Williams.

“Oh my gosh, she made her own path. What Wendy does, nobody can recreate, none of the guest hosts,” Shepard says. “The ‘spill the tea,’ and she’d sit there and be like, ‘You know what I’m talkin’ about.’ So I love that, and I love her fearlessness, and that is something that I want to emulate and keep going. She opened up a lot of doors, and she’s up there with the greats.”

Sherri, who has previously co-hosted ‘The View,’ says she always dreamed of having her own talk show as a kid.

“I used to be like five years old with a toilet paper roll in front of my teddy bears, talking to my teddy bears,” Shepard adds.

Sherri’s new talk show isn’t supposed to kick off until September, but she is very clear that she will not be replacing Wendy “because no one can replace the queen.”

“This show was specifically crafted for her. No one can do this format but Wendy,” Sherri said. “Nobody can sit in a purple chair and sip the tea like Wendy Williams.”
