A TikTok star has been charged with a slew of robberies after authorities used his signature sneakers in his videos to link him to the crimes.
Chozen Terrell-Hannah was arrested by federal authorities on Wednesday for several robberies in the Detroit area. The 22-year-old is extremely popular on TikTok, sporting over 149,000 followers under the username Chozenwrld. His videos attracted thousands of views, but one, in particular, caught the eyes of detectives after an anonymous tip led them to his online platform. In one of Terrell-Hannah’s viral dancing videos, he sported a pair of white Nikes with red accents. These shoes were used in the commission of the robberies. After his arrest, he confessed to executing the armed thefts.
“Chozen Terrell-Hannah admitted to committing all four of the above-described armed robberies and acknowledged using the black backpack with a floral pattern in all four of the armed robberies,” an FBI officer wrote in the criminal complaint.
In total, four stores had been hit, with the first occurring on December 1st at a 7-Eleven. With the three robberies that followed, witnesses described the suspect as wearing the same outfit each time and having pink hair, which was slightly visible underneath his ski mask. In some of his videos, Terrell-Hannah is seen with pink hair.
Terrell-Hannah has been charged with robbery affecting interstate commerce and possessing a firearm during a violent crime. He is being held without bond and is facing more than 20 years behind bars.
