A 16-year-old Texas boy is lucky to be alive after his truck was swept up in a Tornado while driving home from a job interview on Monday.Â
Riley Leon was leaving an interview at Whataburger when his vehicle was caught in the tornado. A viral video of the incident shows the teen’s truck being swept around on its side before landing back upright.
Storm chaser Brian Emfinger captured a video of Leon’s truck being tossed around by the tornado. Once it hit the internet, it quickly went viral. People were astonished that Leon was able to drive away from it.
“On the video, it looks like I drove off, but in reality, I didn’t,” Leon told KXAS. “I landed in the center of the road, and I was just driving to get off the road.”
Bianca Jaimes, one of Leon’s teachers, created a GoFundMe to help the teen cover medical and transportation expenses that resulted from the incident. The boy’s truck was totaled in the accident, and he is now without a vehicle to get to school.Â
The online fundraiser has surpassed its initial goal of $30,000, raising more than $40,000 as of Sunday. A local dealership has stepped in to replace Leon’s truck, according to GoFundMe.Â
And according to KXAS, the teen got the job at Whataburger and starts Monday.Â
