Toni Braxton is breaking her silence following the death of her sister, Traci Braxton, who battled privately with cancer.
The “Unbreak My Heart” vocalist appeared on “The Tamron Hall Show” Tuesday, just two weeks after Traci’s death. Toni described her sister’s final moments as being surrounded by love from all who were close to her. Her sisters, mother, husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandson, and best friends were all present when she transitioned after a battle with Esophageal cancer on March 12th. Traci had been receiving treatments for about a year. During that time, she steered clear of the public eye.Â
Toni also praised the hospice nurses for their care of Traci and urged people to be kind to their families, even in times of disagreement.Â
“So you have to remind yourself to enjoy the moments, be happy, and it’s okay if you fuss and fight but just enjoy the moments and try to just smile and be happy. Be kind to one another,” the 54-year-old told Hall.Â
During the chat, Toni also said she was happy for the time she had left with Traci because doctors initially thought she would pass away much sooner. Despite being “really, really ill” towards the end of her life, Toni said that having her sister survive through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year was a cause for celebration.
Toni is dedicating her new Lifetime movie, “Fallen Angels Murder Club: Friends to Die For,” to Traci.Â
