Jada Pinkett-Smith has spoken. Well, sort of. She recently went on Instagram and posted a message about healing.
“This is a season for healing,” the message read. “And I’m here for it.”
The 50-year-old actress broke her silence with the post on Tuesday, which was two days after her husband Will Smith slapped and cursed at comedian Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars.
By now everyone around the world has probably heard about what went down, but not, here’s a quick rundown.
During the Oscars ceremony, Rock took the stage as a presenter and made an incentive joke about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?”
While the actress rolled her eyes and appeared offended, it was Will, her husband of 25 years, that was obviously furious.
Smith, in front of the crowd and cameras, went on the stage and slapped Rock, 57, in the face.
“Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s–t out of me!,” Rock shockingly responded as the 52-year-old actor walked back to his seat by his wife.
Once back there, he yelled, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth,” while the audience was left stunned.
Smith, who also won the Best Actor Award for his performance as Venus and Serena Williams’ father for his role in King Richard tried to rectify the situation.
“Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father,” Smith told the crowd during his acceptance speech. “Love will make you do crazy things.”
Pinkett Smith has been open about her years-long struggles with alopecia—an autoimmune condition that can cause someone to lose their hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes, which is why some have defended Will’s actions.
