Dianna Williams, the studio owner and choreographer of the Dancing Dolls and star of Lifetime’s “Bring It,” has responded to Southern University’s cease and desist letter.
It seems like Mrs. Dianna is not here for SU dancing team sending her a cease and desist letter. Mrs. D owns the famous Dancing Dolls dance team which was founded in Jackson, Mississippi. Williams and her DD4L team rose to fame after scoring a hit series, “Bring It!” on Lifetime networks.
Almost ten years after the show aired, the Southern University dance team allegedly have an issue with Mrs. D using the name.
Mrs. D took to Instagram live to share the details of what’s been happening, claiming that the school sent her a cease and desist letter in February after they trademarked the name “Dancing Dolls.”
However, Mrs. D seemed to be unbothered by the letter and says she’ll let her lawyer handle the situation. She shared that she has trademarked the name for the usage of apparel. She is also now the owner of the name DD4L and Buck Or Die. To be pettier, Mrs. D also trademarked the full name of SU’s dance team, the Fabulous Dancing Dolls.
Southern University’s dance team has yet to comment on the matter.

Well Southern University’s Dancing Dolls have been around for quite a while. I’m 70 and I remember them long before anyone even knew the lady from the Lifetime show.
If I remember correctly the SU as Golden Dancing Dolls, but if the Name wasn’t trademark after years of SU usage shame on them for not following through, as usual.
So…your point🤷 if it was so important&has been around since you were young why didnt they trademark it🤷👏
Ignorance is truly bliss. How does a university drop the ball trademarking the name Dancing Dolls. Now success for DD4L and the journey Ms. D has taken them.on now is in jeopardy. Sounds like the university has the burden of proof. Go Dancing Dolls, rock on Ms. D. We with you, Norfolk Virginia
Made respect for how Mrs. D handled that. In the words of our forever First Lady “when they go low we go high”.
Mrs. D done had seasons and seasons of the show and they could of been said something. They have even toured with the name. Sounds like to me the University is going through something financially. Didn’t make their trademark shame on them and they need to have SEVERAL SEATS
