Medical examiners revealed that Jaylan Walker was shot 46 times by Ohio police last month.
Walker was shot and killed by Ohio police on June 27th. According to Summit County Medical Examiner Lisa Kohler, Walker suffered from 46 gunshot wounds. As Kosher announced the autopsy report, she said the 46 shots were from the entrance and graze wounds.
“There are 46 entrance wounds. There are 15 exit wounds, and five of the wounds that would be in with the entrances are graze wounds,” Kohler said.
Kohler explained where the bullets hit Walker. There were 15 gunshot wounds to his torso, 17 to his pelvis and upper legs, one shot to his face, eight to his arms and right hand, five to his knees, lower right leg, and right foot.
She added that five bullets entered Walker’s back but couldn’t determine if that was when he was running from officers or simply moving his body.
Kohler mentioned that Walker suffered “devastating injuries,” however medical examiners can’t determine which bullet killed him.
“He’s got an injury to his heart,” Kohler said. “He has an injury to both lungs, which also bleed extensively. And he has an injury to the right iliac artery. So we’ve got multiple locations that are going to bleed significantly and would contribute to his death.”
The toxicology screening shows that Walker tested negative for any drugs or alcohol.
If you’re not aware, Ohio authorities attempted to pull Walker over for an unspecified traffic violation. The stop led to a car chase between Walker and the officers. During the chase, the police “reported a firearm being discharged from the suspect vehicle.”
Walker then jumped out of the car and tried to escape, but officers followed him on foot and opened fire. Walker was pronounced dead on the scene with no weapon found near his body. The gun in question was later discovered inside Walker’s vehicle.
