As Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Dupart, are gearing up for the birth of their baby boy, they’ve revealed the backstory of how they chose their sperm donor.
Ahead of the new season of their reality show “Brat Loves Judy”, the couple sat down with The Root in an interview about the upcoming episodes and their expanding family. During this season, Brat and Judy will openly share details about their pregnancy, which they revealed in February. In addition, the two will provide viewers with a glimpse into their journey, including the selection of their sperm donor, a process that they described as enlightening.
Brat and Judy had assumed they would have numerous options. However, they were taken aback by the limited number of Black donors available for selection. Initially, the ladies had thousands of potential candidates, but after eliminating some based on information obtained from Judy’s genetic testing, they were left with only 300, with just one of them being Black.
“And that [dude] looked like Jiminy Cricket,” Brat says. “I was like, “I’m sorry but that wasn’t gonna be my choice.”
As a result of the slim pickings, the couple finally selected a donor–who is Caucasian.
“Because we didn’t have a lot to choose from, he definitely wasn’t Black,” the rapper added.” But I think we did a great job with picking. He’s handsome, he’s tall and I think he’s going to look beautiful with my wife’s egg.”
The new season of the WeTv reality show premiered on April 27th.
