Bizarre Drug Bust: Woman ‘Pregnant’ with Cocaine Arrested in South Carolina

In a surprising turn of events, law enforcement officers in South Carolina apprehended a woman pretending to be pregnant after three pounds of cocaine fell out from a rubber belly she had allegedly attached to herself.

On April 12, deputies from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a proactive patrol on Interstate 85, leading to the encounter with Anthony Miller and Cemeka Mitchem, residents of Charlotte.  The sheriff’s office account described the unusual discovery.

According to Public Information Officer Shale Remien, the initial reason for the stop was Miller’s erratic driving, characterized by weaving through multiple lanes and almost colliding with a semi-trailer truck.  During the stop, both Miller and Mitchem displayed nervous behavior and volunteered the information that Mitchem was pregnant.

“The first indication that something was amiss arose when the couple provided conflicting information regarding her ‘due date,'” the sheriff’s office release stated.

Furthermore, the deputies noticed discrepancies in the details provided about their destination.  Additionally, marijuana was found in their vehicle during the search.

As suspicion grew due to the conflicting stories shared by the couple, Mitchem attempted to flee from the officers, leading to a rapid revelation.  “Mitchem immediately took off running, and drugs quickly fell from the fake rubber stomach,” noted the release.

Following the incident, both Mitchem and Miller were arrested and are now facing charges related to drug trafficking.  Law enforcement officers seized approximately 1,500 grams of cocaine during the stop.  The pair remains incarcerated in Anderson County as legal proceedings unfold.

“It’s not every day we see something like that,” remarked Remien, highlighting the unusual nature of the incident.

Details regarding the attorney representing Miller and Mitchem were not immediately available.
