Wendy’s Plans To Integrate “Autonomous Robots” To Enhance The Customers Pick-Up Experience

It is possible that in the near future, Wendy’s fast-food customers could receive their food via underground robots.

The fast-food chain has unveiled a recent collaboration with Pipedream, an organization behind an innovative underground autonomous robot system. This system is designed to swiftly transport digital food orders from the kitchen to designated parking spaces within a matter of seconds.

According to a press release by Wendy’s, the objective is to offer expedited and convenient pick-up experiences for their customers.

“We know that serving orders quickly and accurate leads to increased customer satisfaction,” Wendy’s Company U.S. Chief Operations Officer Deepak Ajmani said. “Pipedream’s Instant Pickup system has the potential to unlock greater mobile order speed of service and accuracy, enabling us to consistently deliver hot and fresh Wendy’s products to our fans.”

Wendy’s will be pioneering the implementation of Pipedream’s technology, making them the first quick-service restaurant to do so. After installation, the Wendy’s kitchen will establish a direct connection with an external portal situated outside the restaurant.

The customer will then proceed to the designated portal, where the food will be delivered by the “autonomous robots.” These robots will transport the food underground and bring it to the portal for pick-up.

Additionally, Wendy’s states that this technology will enable restaurants to enhance efficiency among their crew members by optimizing the handling of digital orders.

Nevertheless, Wendy’s will integrate the new technology later this year.
