Shy Glizzy has been acquitted of all accusations made by his former girlfriend who claimed that he pulled a firearm on her.
According to TMZ, the charges against the rapper were dismissed on Friday. The reason behind the dismissal, as reported by the outlet, was a combination of insufficient evidence and an inadmissible search and seizure. Indeed, an inadmissible search and seizure is a significant claim with legal implications.
As outlined by the Cornell University School of Law, such a search and seizure refers to one conducted without a valid search warrant, lacking probable cause to justify the initial action, or exceeding the scope of a previously lawful search and seizure. It is important to note that an inadmissible search and seizure is considered a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Nevertheless, the outlet says Glizzy’s ex-girlfriend, Amaya Colon, is still seeking a permanent restraining order against him, despite his charges being dismissed. Although Colon currently holds a temporary restraining order, it’s uncertain whether her request for a permanent restraining order will be granted.
In May, Glizzy was arrested in West Hollywood following a verbal dispute with Colon. During the argument, Glizzy allegedly displayed a firearm and made threats towards Colon. He was subsequently booked on a felony charge of making threats and was released on bail after posting a bond of $50,000.
